Old Broad Street is today lined with a variety of buildings, from original 19th Century survivors, to retained facades only, to recent building, in a mix of modernist and historicist styles. Stock Exchange Tower
At the southern intersection with Threadneedle Street is 125 Old Broad Street, formerly known as the Stock Exchange Tower and still often referred to as such, is a high-rise office building in London, located on in the City of London financial district.
For over 30 years the Stock Exchange Tower was the home of the London Stock Exchange, until the latter’s relocation to Paternoster Square in 2004.
This building stands 100 metres tall with 26 floors, it served as the headquarters, offices and trading floor for the London Stock Exchange until the exchange departed for new premises in nearby Paternoster Square in July 2004.
The building underwent a major renovation which saw its pre-cast concrete façade reclad in a glass curtain wall, and thousands of square metres of additional office space created.
Tower 42
Tower 42, commonly known as the NatWest Tower, is a 183-metre-tall skyscraper on Old Borad Street in the City of London. Its original name was the National Westminster Tower, having been built to house NatWest’s international headquarters. Seen from above, the shape of the tower resembles that of the NatWest logo (three chevrons in a hexagonal arrangement).
Tower 42 is located at 25 Old Broad Street in the ward of Cornhill. It was the tallest building in the United Kingdom until superseded by One Canada Square at Canary Wharf in 1990.
The building today is multi-tenanted and comprises Grade A office space and restaurant facilities.
